It feels like I read more books this year but I guess I didn’t. I’m still in the middle of three books that are a bit slower so I keep finishing other books instead of those books. I also listen to podcasts and have watched a few seasons of shows on Netflix, so that took some of my free time that I otherwise might have spent reading (see all of my Netflix recommendations here, here, here, here, and here).
I tend to get on reading kicks where I’ll read a ton for a few months, and then not read much for a month or so. Right now I’m in heavy reading mode. Holiday travel, winter makes me a hermit, and something about the new year always makes me read a lot. I also listen to books a lot on Audible while editing photos or driving to and from my office. The distance to my office is only 2.5 miles, but with DC traffic it can take anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes depending on the time of day and what’s going on in the city. It calms my road rage to listen to something and I find it to be a good use of time.
I read about the same amount of books as I did last year — which comes out to be right around one book every two weeks. I read almost every night in bed and almost always when I fly. If you are trying to get in more reading time you can read my post on 6 Ways To Read More Books This Year.
