3 BOOKS TO FINISH OFF THE SUMMER

3 BOOKS TO READ

I thought I’d get a little more reading done this year and specifically this summer, but I haven’t hit as many books as I wanted to (maybe my goals were too high?). I’ve probably only read 2-4 books per month, when I really wanted to read 6-8 per month! I have a few long plane rides coming up, a month of pool time left, and some beach time this fall, so hopefully I can knock out some books.

How many books do you try to read per month? Per year?

These are a few books I’ve read recently:

The Nightingale, by Kristin Hannah

If you only read one book this year, read this book. It is soooooo good. A World War II fiction novel from the view of two French women. Personally I liked this book better than All The Light We Cannot See, but my mom was the opposite of course. We always like the opposite of each other.

The Year of Magical Thinking, by Joan Didion

Gotta love cool Joan. There’s such an ease to her writing that makes it really easy to read. Similar to Hemingway. You’re never wishing the book would end or finding it hard to get through. It’s just such an honest account of how she dealt with her husband’s death and daughter’s illness. It made me think about my husband’s accident over five years ago and what I learned from that experience.

The Good Girl, by Mary Kubica

If you like thrillers, this is a good one. I actually listened to this book and it was one of those books you walk around the block again because you want to know what happens next. Maybe I’m naive but I didn’t see where this book was going, so it was very entertaining. Great beach read.
