I am so excited to bring back a column that you all loved! I know this because you told me in my survey last fall — you wanted the beauty expert column back! I agree! We all have different types of skin, so why not get your beauty info from all different types of women!
Each month I’ll ask the beauty experts a question for them to weigh in on, and they’ll give us their best product recommendations. Who are these beauty experts? They are all different types of women ranging in age from their 20s to their 40s. From a doctor to beauty editors to executives at major beauty companies, these women collectively test more beauty products than most people will probably ever buy in their lifetime!
This month I asked them what type of skin they have. If they have any specific problems or issues with their skin. And what skincare products do they love, use constantly, have recently discovered and are impressed with, or ones that have solved their problems. This way you can find the person that you can relate to your own skin type and pay a little more attention to those products and recommendations!
I’ll go first.
I have sensitive skin. Not sensitive in the way that products make me break out with blemishes, but sensitive in the way that products will give me a rash. I’m not sure if that’s considered an allergy or what, but my skin is sensitive in that way.
My skin is also sensitive to heat. Which sucks because I love all things hot. I don’t wear makeup to hot yoga, and I’m really careful about products I wear on my skin when I am in the sun as I’m more prone to get a rash after being out in the sun (usually products with added fragrance are not good for me when in the sun).
I’m lucky in the way that genetically I have really good skin (thanks mom!). I had very few blemishes growing up and as an adult (knock on wood). I’ve been taking care of my skin since I was a teen, religiously using Clinique’s 3-Step program with DDML. I’ve been thinking about wrinkles since I was 16!
In the past few years tiny wrinkles have started to form on my face in the usual places (now I understand why people get Botox). I’m all about natural prevention as much as possible but I’m also testing out a lot of anti-aging products.
I would consider my skin to be on the dry side. In the summer it’s more normal (or sweaty), but in the winter it’s definitely dry. Rarely oily.
So that’s where I’m coming from when I recommend skincare products! So, what are my favorite skincare products? What I’m always looking for in skincare products is of course that it doesn’t give me a rash, I prefer natural gentle products, and love anything really moisturizing and plumping.
I’ve been using the same cleansing wash for years — One Love Organics Easy Does It. Only with certain mascaras do I need anything more than this amazing gentle cleanser. For moisturizer I mainly use Skin Savior or Skin Dew unless I’m testing new products. In the winter I’ll wear Skincando Miracle Cream overnight. It is the most moisturizing product I’ve ever used. In the mask category I’m loving both of Glossier’s masks — Mega Greens and Moisturizing Moon. Recently I tested out the Perricone MD Cocoa Moisture Mask and it is easily one of my favorite masks EVER. Not only does it smell delicious, but the results are are SO AMAZING. As far as exfoliation, I’m obsessed with the m-61 SuperSoothe E Microdermabrasion Scrub. It has replaced all of my other exfoliators. It leaves my skin so soft! I’m constantly testing out new products and I like a lot of other products, but these are my current (and some are my long-time) go-to skincare products.
Now, let’s meet the beauty experts and see what they have to say!
Dr. Naina Singla of Naina Singla
With a doctorate in pharmacy, Dr. Naina Singla has worked in the dermatology space for years. Most recently, Dr. Singla was a Senior Medical Scientific Manager providing medical support in the area of facial aesthetics and beauty. Some of the products Dr. Singla supported include Kybella, Botox, Juvederm, and Volbella — all of which are leading aesthetic injectables routinely used by cosmetic dermatologists and plastic surgeons for anti-aging and beauty enhancement. Dr. Singla is also a style expert and shares style and beauty tips on her website.
My skin tends to be normal to dry and very sensitive, so I try and keep my skincare routine simple. I use high quality products and I don’t like to switch products too often. My biggest issue when it comes to skincare is an uneven skin tone and now as I am getting older I am also interested in anti-aging products that can help with cell turnover and keep wrinkles and fine lines to a minimum.
If you ask any dermatologist they will tell you to use broad coverage sunscreen every single day of the year! Lately my favorite product to use is Lune + Aster Cover + Correct/Tinted Moisturizer. This medium coverage moisturizing tint covers imperfections and evens skin tone. SPF 50 protects from UVA and UVB rays, while vitamin E and hyaluronic acid hydrate and moisturize. I just got this last month and I am loving it because it gives me a more dewy, hydrated, and natural finish.
I use Skinmedica Retinol Complex — a vitamin A derivative is a must-have for cell turnover, to combat wrinkles and dark spots, build collagen, and to enhance skin tone and texture. Every woman over the age of 30 should be using some type of retinol 2-3 times per week.
I use La Mer Eye Concentrate twice daily and it’s great for conditioning, hydrating, and smoothing the delicate eye area. It reduces the appearance of dark circles, lines, and wrinkles.
Every night I use Alchimie Forever Gentle Cream Cleanser to remove impurities and makeup and I love how it leaves my skin feeling silky and clean. It’s super gentle, calming, and perfect for those of us with sensitive skin. I am completely addicted and highly recommend this facial cleanser.
Skinceuticals CE Ferulic is the newest product I have added to my skincare regimen and I finally added it because almost every single dermatologist I know recommends this vitamin C product. From brightening skin to anti-aging, the benefits of applying vitamin C are amazing. This product neutralizes free radicals, promotes collagen production, and delivers antioxidant protection. After cleansing each morning, smooth four to five drops of this skin treatment over a dry face, neck, and chest.
Casey Crowe Taylor has been in the beauty industry for over seven years. She spent four years on the PR team at Victoria’s Secret hanging backstage with the world’s biggest supermodels and hair and makeup talent learning all the best tips and tricks. Then she moved on to Birchbox where she tested and wrote about beauty on social media. Today she does social media and content marketing for Bluemercury. She is always on the lookout for innovative products in skincare and haircare.
My skin type is split-personality at best — sometimes dry, sometimes congested, and sometimes it’s overly sensitive. I have to try a lot of different products to get it right. I also find that I’ll find a great product that works for about three months and then it stops working all of the sudden and I have to try something new.
I came across this brand by accident at a sample sale and I’m so glad I did. Probiotic beauty products are fairly new to the market but they’re supposed help your skin defend against everyday stressors like pollution, allergens, and toxins and help fight signs of aging. Whatever they do, this Tula Purifying Cleanser is amazing — it’s a foaming cleanser that deep cleans my skin without drying.
I have two favorite exfoliators that I use throughout the week. My first favorite is the m-61 SuperSoothe E Microdermabrasion Scrub (which actually Meg recommended to me last year). It’s the best face scrub I’ve ever used. It gets rid of dry/dead skin and I can tell after I use it, whatever serum I put on afterward really soaks into my skin for maximum results.
The second exfoliator I use is primarily when I see/feel a breakout coming on — the m-61 PowerGlow Peel. This one-minute peel is really a cure-all for most skin types with glycolic and salicylic acids, it exfoliates deep and your skin really glows the next day (sensitive skin types should do a patch test before using). I also notice that it reduces redness and inflammation if I have a breakout.
From working with top beauty editors from Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Allure, and Refinery29, in my past life doing beauty PR for Victoria’s Secret, there was one cult product that you could almost guarantee they all had on their list — SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic. I remember one of them saying, it’s an investment and you have to just keep the faith that it’s working since you don’t see results immediately. I can tell you from years of using it, it’s significantly reduced sunspots on my face from years baking my skin in the sun in my teens and early 20s and I do believe it’s doing wonders preventing more from appearing.
I am a total sunscreen freak. It’s the number one way to prevent aging — there is actually nothing better you can do for you skin than wearing sunscreen. If you’re not wearing sunscreen on the daily, any anti-aging products you apply are pretty much cancelled out. Supergoop! is my favorite sunscreen brand for my face because their products don’t clog my pores or make me breakout, they work, and the product doesn’t feel heavy like most sunscreens can. Sunscreen should be put on last in your skincare routine to lock in and protect!
I found the Tula hydrating day & night cream by accident at a sample sale and it’s the best moisturizer I’ve found for my crazy skin. It completely balances my split personality skin. It moisturizes just enough that my skin never feels dry but it also is lightweight enough that it doesn’t congest my pores or make my skin feel overly oily. It smells amazing and I just bought my second jar.
Nadine is a hairstylist at PR at Partners K Street in Washington D.C. She has had a lifelong love affair with testing beauty products and has been fulfilling her client’s dreams of beautiful blonde hair, which ultimately led her to a career as a passionate colorist. She is a self-proclaimed “low-maintenance girl with high-maintenance tendencies”. Nadine works with her clients to nurture and develop their beauty practices beyond just hair — creating an effortless harmony between hair, makeup, and wardrobe that is never stressful and always evolving.
My skin changes with the season/climate — staying (mostly) clear of breakouts, but prone to texture and dryness when it’s cold outside. Living in D.C.’s sporadic winter and humid summer means half the time, my skin loves life, and the other half, it’s begging me to travel it to the Caribbean or move it to LA. These are my favorite skincare products year-round, no matter what Mother Nature has going on.
I started using Sunday Riley Good Genes a few months ago. Never has a product made a more immediate and noticeable change to my skin. It smooths fine lines and makes pores disappear after just a few uses.
Glossier’s Rich Priming Moisturizer is the newest product on my shelf and an instant favorite. It has a light lavender scent that adds a spa vibe to my nightly routine and makes my skin feel soft and pillowy.
I’ve listed two moisturizers because the more the better. The Embryolisse Concentrated Lait Cream is a European drugstore classic that absorbs quickly into skin and can be used multiple times a day. Never greasy, always glowy.
Making this list has made me realize that I have one main skincare goal: G L O W. The Boscia Tsubaki Glotion Instant Luminizing Moisturizer is a miracle worker when applied under a tinted SPF and cream blush for a polished, barely-there look.
The shining star of my holy grail of products — La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo Dual Action Acne Treatment Cream. It is a spot treatment that eliminates breakouts before they pop up and is a miracle worker on those impossible to eliminate hormonal breakouts. The European formula seems to be more effective, so when traveling overseas, stock up!
Elizabeth Dehn of Beauty Bets
Born and raised in Minneapolis by surprisingly low-maintenance parents, Elizabeth Dehn (aka Bets) spent her awkward years buying Mood lipstick and whipping up DIY face masks before founding Beauty Bets in 2009 as a way to share candid product reviews and trusted beauty advice with discerning readers everywhere. Since then, Beauty Bets has evolved into an inspirational space where Elizabeth’s obsession with finding the perfect red lipstick and banishing her sunspots once and for all is surpassed only by her collection of self-help books and her commitment to helping others achieve self-love and acceptance. A hippie disguised in J.Crew, Elizabeth is also a crystal-carrying, amateur tarot-card reading, certified Reiki healer.
A lifestyle editor by trade and a storyteller at heart, Elizabeth has spent more than a decade creating compelling content for Target, Nordstrom, Mpls.St.Paul Magazine, Clementine Daily, and other sought-after beauty and wellness brands. Her gift for curation garnered her 5.4 million followers on Pinterest and an award-winning skincare collaboration with One Love Organics. When she’s not in therapy or test-driving the latest beauty treatment (bee venom facial, anyone?), Elizabeth can be found in the kitchen with her spirit animal, Ty, or taking long walks around the lake with their white lab, Molly. Pass the sunscreen.
My skin is relatively normal — not dry or sensitive, not oily or break-out prone — but gets dehydrated easily from travel and seasonal change. And, thanks to years of baking in the sun as a teenager, sunspots are pretty much the bane of my beauty existence. After a decade of testing skincare products and treatments, it takes a super-effective formula to make a difference. These are the real deal.
Arcona The Solution, a refining evening treatment, will change your skin in a week. One morning you’ll just wake up with the clear, glowing complexion you had when you were 17.
One Love Organics Vitamin C Serum does it all: brightens, protects, and moisturizes better than any cream or lotion. If you’ve never used (or loved) a face oil, start here!
I’m cheating a bit here because I haven’t tried the Herbivore Moon Fruit Superfruit Night Treatment yet but an aesthetician who has the best skin I’ve ever seen (like, Jessica Biel-level skin), can’t stop talking about this moisturizer/hydrator/exfoliant.
Eminence Lime Stimulating Masque is not for the faint of heart — it tingles and will leave you red for at least one episode of GIRLS — but I haven’t found anything that clears out pores and eradicates blemishes like this product, while leaving you with a rosy glow.
Follow with Fresh Rose Face Mask, a cooling, soothing, hydrating wonder, and you will have given yourself a professional-grade facial. Repeat weekly.
Lara Ramos of The Glossarie
Lara Ramos has operated The Glossarie since 2009, earning recognition from Lucky and Allure, serving as a three-term Brand Ambassador to Avon, and contributing trend-driven beauty content to Refinery29 and Teen Vogue. She currently works as a Senior Account Executive for COVERGIRL — a true beauty dream come true.
My skin is sensitive and acne-prone (which is super annoying — especially as I get ready to turn 35), but I have found that sticking to a strict routine is the key to keeping things calm and clear. In recent years, I have been all about prestige skincare all of the time, but I have recently discovered a couple of less expensive dupes to take the place of my pricier favorites. Such a pleasant surprise! I will say that when it comes to my lips and under eyes, I definitely invest. Some people like expensive handbags or jeans, I opt for the ultimate eye cream. All in all, mixing affordable products with a few high-end items to cater to my problem areas has given me some of the best skin I’ve ever had.
A very recent discovery, Thayers Witch Hazel Alcohol Free Toner Lavender (a Target find), has fully replaced my beloved Origins Mega-Mushroom Treatment Lotion. Since I use toner twice daily, it’s crucial to get this one right. The Thayers product has everything I look for — moisturizing, toning, soothing — and it’s ideal for sensitive skin. Best of all, it’s a third of the cost of the Origins and it’s 2x the size. Win!
Confession: I have not washed my face in a year and a half — and it has made all of the difference. Let me explain — I use a cotton pad to remove my makeup with Bioderma Sensibio H2O Water each night. The bottle is massive and the formula is gentle, yet effective. I have tried several other options, but this one is by far the kindest to my temperamental skin.
Oh man, does the Tata Harper Eye Serum have a hold on me. It is equal parts lightweight and very hydrating. I can get it right up into my lash line without irritation. It has erased (!) my fine lines and I haven’t woken up with a dark circle since I started using it. I might need to get a second job to keep this one in constant rotation, but trust me when I say it’s that good.
The La Mer Lip Balm has been on my wish list for more than five years and I treated myself to it for Valentine’s Day using a Christmas gift card. The lady behind the counter sold me a big story on its anti-aging capabilities, but I do believe that it’s actually making a difference in my lip texture and I find them to be getting chapped less often. I only use it at night, kind of like a mask, and I am obsessed with the thick formula and minty tingle.
If there’s something that Instanatural Serum does not tackle, I have yet to find it. It has the consistency of melted butter, a little goes a long way. It singlehandedly fights all of my skin concerns — most importantly acne and aging. I apply it at night (skipping a night cream thanks to a few overactive oil glands) and I’m obsessed with the results. For $22 I highly recommend pulling the trigger, but a quick perusal of the 200+ positive reviews might seal the deal too.
Carolyn Hsu of NewBeauty Magazine
Carolyn Hsu is the Site Director of NewBeauty Magazine where she covers all things beauty all day long. She has been in beauty media for 10 years and in addition to collecting bylines around the internet, she’s also worked at Estée Lauder companies and L’Oréal.
I have combination skin and my biggest concerns are dullness and texture. I have some areas that seem to be red all the time and get the occasional breakout. Other than that I’m worried about my first fine lines settling in (it’s that time!) and of course I’m always aware of hyper pigmentation issues because that runs in my family. Thanks to my beauty editor gig, I have access to a lot of the latest and greatest products, and I definitely take advantage!
Fillerina is a 14-day system that’s supposed to help fill lines and plump out any areas of the face without having to resort to injectables. It’s a two-step process: a replenishing gel that’s made from six different types of hyaluronic acid that you apply to very specific areas of the face that need volume (i.e. crow’s feet, forehead lines, nasolabial folds, etc.), and a nourishing film that you apply all over your face to seal it all in. The product is applied via two “syringes” (that don’t penetrate the skin). Although it looks gimmicky, the syringes are key to application because it gets the product into the super fine lines on the face. Fillerina comes in three levels: 1, 2, and 3, each corresponding to how strong the formula is.
Speaking of hyaluronic acid, SkinCeuticals H.A. Intensifier is my new nightly go-to. This corrective serum boosts the skin’s natural levels of HA by 30%, helping to keep it looking smooth, plump, and soft all day long.
An oldie but goodie that I will never give up, this cult classic is a staple in every beauty editor’s vanity. The SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic serum combines vitamin C, vitamin E, and ferulic acid to help brighten skin and fight discoloration. Whenever I put it on at night my skin just looks better in the morning.
Another industry secret — the Biologique Recherche P50 toner — is like a magic potion revealing your clearest, glowiest, most exfoliated skin. The cocktail of acids gently lift away dead skin and brighten and balance everything that is left.
For a natural oil that actually works to help reduce signs of aging, nothing beats the Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Serum which contains over 22 active ingredients that target multiple signs of aging, leaving you lifted, firm, and radiant. It doesn’t hurt that it also smells amazing.
Tara Foley of Follain
Tara Foley is a clean beauty expert and activist. In 2009 Tara was obsessed with her own health and wellness — practicing yoga, racing triathlons, crazy about nutrition — when she discovered the shocking number of unsafe ingredients in her beloved beauty products. She couldn’t believe that there was no store that only sold safe and effective beauty products, so in 2013 Tara launched Follain as the healthy skincare retail alternative, and as a catalyst to change the U.S. beauty industry.
Follain has stores in Boston, NYC, and online — with big plans for growth. Before launching Follain, Tara researched safe and sustainable skincare, apprenticing on an organic lavender farm in France and with a private label skincare company in Maine. Over the past eight years, Tara has tried thousands of clean beauty products in an effort to source the very best products for her beauty company.
My skin is normal, leaning dry, and takes a lot of beating from trying so many products. This is not ideal for anyone — to switch up skincare products so frequently and use products that might not be intended for your skin — but I feel strongly about trying every product before we add it to our store shelves. My skin loves oils above all else — oil cleansers and lightweight oils for moisturizing and targeting concerns. These are some of my favorite products right now.
I use Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence as a toner, after cleansing and before moisturizing. I believe in investing in your skin and knowing that the rich active botanicals in my moisturizers work much better if applied to damp, toned skin. This toner helps me absorb my face oils better but the rose water and essential oil base also deeply nourishes my skin. All without the stripping alcohols and fragrance that most toners have.
Farmaesthetics Herbal Hydration Complex Mask is my “going out” mask. It calms down any redness and hydrates skin in just five minutes. More importantly it does all this with 100% clean cooling ingredients like peppermint and clays.
Vered Le Chocolat Citrus Face Scrub is another oil-based product that works double duty for my normal-to-dry skin. It sloughs off dry, dead, clogging skin but also plumps and hydrates skin with oils and circulation boosting, antioxidant rich chocolate — this scrub smells like a super sweet chocolate dessert and I want to eat it each time I use it. I could too — seeing that it’s made with only real, wholesome ingredients and no toxic fillers.
One Love Organics Vitamin B Cleansing Oil + Makeup Remover actually leaves my skin feeling cleaner than most gel or soap cleansers do. It breaks down all oils and makeup and even slightly foams. I wear makeup daily and actually love this cleanser because it leaves my skin makeup-free and clean, yet not dried out. All without sulfates and any unsafe preservatives that are in most cleansers.
When I use Vered Anti-Aging Face Oil at night, this rich yet fast-absorbing face oil makes my skin look better, more lustrous, and glowier in the morning. It has tons of antioxidants and caffeine to stimulate circulation and tons of rich oils to hydrate and nourish. Every single ingredient has an active purpose — as opposed to most moisturizers which have ingredients that are half-active, half-toxic fillers to increase shelf life.
Eileen Dautruche of Miss Whoever You Are
Eileen Dautruche was born and raised in New York with a penchant for bold lipstick and glowing skin. She founded her blog, Miss Whoever You Are, in July 2007 as a way to showcase current beauty and fashion trends in fresh and inspiring ways. Whether it’s sharing the latest beauty haul, tutorial, or her personal style, Miss Whoever You Are allows Eileen to communicate directly with the everyday woman and offer real techniques and advice along the way. She has worked with a variety of brands such as NARS, MAC Cosmetics, Dove, Clinique, Avon, and Target.
I have oily skin, however, over the past few winter seasons my skin has turned on me and it gets very dry. My main concerns are controlling oil and dealing with breakouts, whether they’re hormonal or otherwise. Since I am getting older, I am also doing a lot of preventative skincare.
I’ve always been an advocate for the Clarisonic and notice a huge difference in my skin when I don’t use it. When I do use it, I break out less and my complexion is glowing. The Mia Fit is really small and travel friendly.
The IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye eye cream is my favorite eye cream for the daytime. It has hyaluronic acid and cucumber so it hydrates and cools the under-eye area. My concealer goes on effortlessly and my skin looks smooth.
I was pleasantly surprised by the Glossier Super Pure Serum. It helped control my breakouts and stressed-out skin. I didn’t realize how much I liked it until I ran out of it. Formulated with niacinamide and zinc, the Super Pure Serum soothes redness and helps calm blemishes. It’s a water-gel formula so it’s slippery but doesn’t feel tacky on skin.
The Sunday Riley U.F.O Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil is pricey but it absolutely helps with breakouts and acne. I like to use this underneath my moisturizer at night and I wake up with beautiful glowing skin. It has a very strong herbal scent so I try to not wear it during the day because the scent lingers.
The Murad Time Release Acne Cleanser is a problematic favorite for me. I LOVE the end result and how my skin looks after using it. It controls acne and honestly saved my skin, but I hate the texture of the actual product. It causes slight dryness but nothing a bit of moisturizer won’t cure. I saw results after using it for two weeks.
Claire Ashley of Claire Ashley Beauty
Claire’s career as a makeup artist started when she received professional training during her five years working at MAC Cosmetics. In 2009, Claire uploaded her first beauty tutorial to her YouTube channel and ever since it has become a go-to beauty destination for viewers to learn easy how-to makeup tutorials — 175,000 subscribers and counting. She is also a freelance professional makeup artist for weddings in the DC area.
I have very dry skin with a lot of hyper pigmentation, including melasma specifically above my upper lip and cheeks.
The Boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel is the most gentle facial cleanser that simultaneously breaks down all of your makeup. There’s no tight feeling after washing your face, it truly makes you feel clean, and is the perfect first step before the rest of your skincare routine. I like to use it in the shower at night!
The Murad Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum helps diminish the appearance of any dark spots. I get flare ups from my melasma, especially when I’m in the sun. It has hydroquinone which is a miracle worker for any hyper pigmentation.
The Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Extra Strength Daily Peel is a pre-soaked pad that works well in tandem with my serum to fight hyper pigmentation. Use this two times a week and it helps with acne and evening out skin tone. I like to cut the pads in half to make it last twice as long!
The Clinique Smart Eye Treatment is a hydrating eye cream that also acts as a brightener. I use a heavy concealer underneath my eyes so I need something that will help it glide on easily. My makeup looks much better when I use this product.
The Clinique Moisture Surge Intense is deeply hydrating for those with dry skin year-round. It doesn’t leave you feeling greasy and helps repair the look of my skin, I always use it before foundation to make my foundation glide on more easily.

My aesthetician tells me my skin is highly reactive. It gets red and responds to touch and treatment in a visible manner. My skin leans dry, especially during the winter, but I still get concentrations of blackheads around my nose. I have a thorough beauty routine.
I use Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser every evening. It’s really good at removing makeup – you can even massage it on your eyelids and it won’t irritate your eyes. I love the texture.
In an attempt to visit my aesthetician less, I’ve been using Drunk Elephant Babyfacial. It is a weekly at-home mask facial that you leave on for 20 minutes. It’s a powerful blend of AHA/BHA which you feel right away when you apply but then it disappears and just works. You can feel your skin is softer the next morning.
I also use DE’s C-Firma Serum every morning. Think of vitamin C like lifting weights – it’s strengthening your skin.
With all of these treatments, SPF is the most important step in my routine. It’s such a splurge, but the best SPF product I’ve ever tried is Elizabeth Arden Prevage City Smart. It’s a serum sunscreen, so you get all of the benefits of Prevage.
I hoard Sephora VIB points but did redeem a cool 100 on a mini tube of Dr. Jart Tiger Grass Cream. It was so good that I’m going for the full-size product. Tiger grass is an ancient medicinal ingredient that was used to heal battle wounds so it helps calm redness and inflammation. It’s great for my reactive skin!
Kate Bryan of The Small Things Blog
Kate Bryan is best known for the video hair tutorials she started creating in 2011. After working as a hairstylist for 10 years, Kate originally made the videos for her clients to reference. On a whim, she pinned a few of them to Pinterest and quickly learned that they were a helpful resource to a lot of people! She’s been blogging for six years over at The Small Things Blog and spends around 25 hours per week working on projects for her site. She like to give beauty products a real road test by using them for several weeks versus just getting a first impression from a product — wearing a lipstick for a few hours to report on how long it lasts, see how well foundation wears, etc. She’s partnered with brands such as Living Proof, Target, Real Simple, Birchbox, T3, Sephora, and more!
My skin is sensitive and dry. Flakiness around my nose is something I battle year-round, especially in the winter.
I use Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve with Super 7 Complex every single day. It is my holy grail of moisturizers!
I love the Clinique Brightening Moisture Mask for extra care for my skin. It delivers serious glow and hydration.
The fresh Vitamin Nectar Vibrancy Boosting Face Mask smells amazing and I love how it feels on my skin.
The fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask has the strangest consistency of a mask I’ve ever tried, but it may be my favorite of all.
The Origins Clear Improvements mask is perfect for the occasional breakout.
I use the fresh Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream on super cold, dry winter days or at night!
