If I was a…

"If I was" question

Sometimes asking ourselves questions and forcing ourselves to answer them helps us understand who we really are. It bends your mind in ways because when forced to answer things you have to reflect deep within, and maybe admit things to yourself, about yourself, that don’t bubble up to the surface until you are faced with a question.

Not only do I think it’s just a fun exercise, but I also find that the more I think about things, the more I get annoyed with myself, and the more likely I am to change certain things about my behavior/character/personality. Has anyone else found this to be true?

I also feel like we spend so much time distracting ourselves with technology, we don’t just sit around and think, dwell, ponder. I mean, how often do you take a long walk with WITHOUT headphones. Just you and your mind. I mean we are always listening, reading, watching, scrolling through something.

I always find myself attracted to games and products that ask questions. I stumbled across one recently and thought it would be fun/interesting to answer a few of the questions here on MB and see what your answers are too! Seemed like you all liked our discussion about when you get up in the morning, so I thought it’d be fun to prompt a little discussion like that every once in a while.

So today’s question is from a product called Know Yourself Prompt Cards — Cards for Self-Reflection.

If I was a kind of weather, I’d be…
If I was a piece of furniture, I’d be…
If I was a make of car, I’d be…
If I was a piece of music, I’d be…
If I was a kind of food, I’d be…
If I was an animal, I’d be…
If I was a kind of font, I’d be…

"If I was" question

My answers:

If I was a kind of weather, I’d be…sunny and a dry 80 degrees! My favorite type of day!

If I was a piece of furniture, I’d be…comfortable (yet stylish) outdoor lounge furniture. Some of my favorite things to do involve being outside, whether it’s reading or enjoying a glass of wine with friends, I love to be outside and comfortable.

If I was a make of car, I’d be…this might come as a surprise, but my dream car is an old MGB Roadster. Black.

If I was a piece of music, I’d be…I love music so this question is really hard. Classic rock is probably my favorite genre if I had to pick one, but I love piano and strings, so probably a classic rock song that has a lot of piano and strings in it. Think Led Zeppelin.

If I was a kind of food, I’d be…another really hard question! I probably eat more fruit than anything else, and I think my favorite type of fruit would be either strawberries, raspberries, or pineapple. But really I like them all. I mean I also love pizza, creamy truffle risotto, and ice cream and almost all breakfast foods, but I think fruit feels more “me”. Sweet yet healthy. Add a drizzle of chocolate on a raspberry and that’s perfect.

If I was an animal, I’d be…I think this question is too hard for me. I feel like a lot of research needs to go into this as nothing besides a tiger (or maybe a leopard or panther) really stands out to me. I even took a few of those dumb online tests and they were all different. One tiger, one bear, and one I don’t even remember.

If I was a kind of font, I’d be…I had two simultaneous first instincts for this question. One — my own handwriting. Two — something sans serif.
