Jamie’s Inspiration // Flash From the Past

The second you see his face below I know you’ll start singing “In West Philadelphia, born and raised…” just like I did. And you’ll sing it all the way through to see if you still know all the words. I bet the ever talented Jamie Meares of Furbish Studio and I Suwannee still knows all the words. Today she is sharing her inspiration for all of her colorful and pattern-filled designs. — Meg

I’m often asked where I find my inspiration the kooky colors, vibrant patterns, and unexpected combinations I use daily in my studio in Raleigh, N.C., and with my interior decorating clients. Here’s a little peak into where some of that quirky style comes from — a flash from my past: a favorite group and an iconic TV show; both known for their playful, loud, bright, jumbled and goofy flair. Here’s how I interpreted their early ’90s feel (arguably the golden-age of hip hop) using some current finds for the home and personal accessories.
