I was reading this post and this simple idea really hit me hard (bold italic):
1% A DAY
If you improve your passion, your skill, your network, your opportunities just 1% a day..that’s 3700% a year.
Your opportunities will be 38 times better in just a year with just small improvements every day.
Basically, you don’t have to carve out hours and hours to improve on something in your life. You can just do one tiny thing every day, and after a week think about how much you did because you just did a tiny bit every day. That’s more than not doing anything at all.
It also takes the pressure off of you doing something daily instead of doing it once a week or less. I know this is true for me with my art. I put so much pressure on the times I do paint to make things I’m happy with, but if I was just painting everyday, that pressure wouldn’t be there (as much).
I feel like I’ve heard this advice a lot in the creative community — write everyday, create everyday, think up new ideas everyday. They won’t all be good, but the more you do it, the easier it is to get started working, the more you are working on your craft, and good things will come out of it.
Is there anything you need to do daily that you haven’t been?
