I was excited for colder weather this year. That’s new for me. I’m hot weather girl. I like summer and warm days in spring and fall, and typically hate the winter. This year I looked forward to fall and have been thoroughly enjoying it.
I love jackets and coats and all things cozy. I loved watching the leaves turn in my new neighborhood. I’ve been enjoying the feeling of a crisp fall day.
Recently I was talking to some friends about the seasons, because when I personally think of the seasons they don’t match up with the supposed dates are for the beginning of the seasons.
For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere astronomers and scientists use the dates of equinoxes and solstices to mark the beginning and end of seasons within a year. Spring is from the March Equinox to June Solstice; Summer starts with the June Solstice and goes until September Equinox; Fall is from the September Equinox to the December Solstice; and Winter is from the December Solstice to the March Equinox.
Apparently weather forecasters needed to make the seasons more consistent for forecasting so there are four meteorological seasons, each consisting of three months. These dates seem to correlate more with what I think most of us think of when we think of the seasons: Spring is March 1 to May 31; Summer is June 1 to August 31; Fall is September 1 to November 30; Winter is December 1 to February 28/29.
It isn’t really feeling like winter much yet this year as it’s been quite a warm year. But it wasn’t until I was looking up the dates for the seasons that I learned that there was an actual meteorological season calendar. Did you already know that?
I’ll be soaking up all of these lovely fall days, and I always love when it snows, but once it becomes frigid for days on end I become a different person.

The furry bomber comes in 3 colors! And it says my jeans run small and to order a size up, but I disagree and find they run TTS — also the jeans and my mules are on sale!
