As as quickly approach June, what better question for the beauty bloggers this month than what products they were most excited about for summer. I couldn’t help but add a few of their recommendations to my own purchase list.
LINDSAY ROGERS // Belle Belle Beauty
I have long admired the NARS Lipstick in Schiap but always thought the shocking pink would look silly on me. I finally picked up the iconic shade now that I am bolder with my lip looks and am thrilled with the way it brightens my face and shows off a tan. I can’t wait to rock the hot pink all summer long.
The bliss ‘fuzz’ off bikini fresh scented hair removal cream really made me rethink how I felt about depilatories. It smells pleasant and is super easy to use. My bikini area skin is left nourished and hair free.
I am all about the glow this summer and the jane iredale Golden Shimmer for Face and Body Lotion has pulled ahead as my favorite shimmer with its high impact golden flecks. I like it all on its own on my face for a natural, radiant look.
Just because I shun the sun doesn’t mean I don’t want that sun-kissed tan look. After trying loads of self-tanners, I keep returning to my favorite Kate Somerville Somerville 360° Tanning Towelettes. They are easy to use, travel-friendly, and give a healthy glow with zero drying time.
Speaking of safe sun practices, I am falling hard for Coola’s new SPF 30 Sunscreen Spray in Citrus Mimosa and Pina Colada. Who knew sunscreen could smell so good? I love channeling my favorite summer cocktails while my skin is protected and conditioned.
KARA MANOS // Politics of Pretty
In the midst of moving in to my new apartment with my fiancé, I rediscovered this old favorite, Bobbi Brown Brightening Lip Gloss in popsicle. Best luminous lip gloss ever! This will be my summer go-to gloss for everyday color.
I’m a sucker for any product with the word “BB” in it, so naturally this Jergens BB Body Perfecting Skin Cream was at the top of my “to-buy” list. I’m excited to see if this multi-action formula brightens and evens out my skin tone. I’m on day two and so far, it smells pretty darn good.
My hair dryer gets a much-needed vacation in the summer because I love to air-dry my tresses for a tousled look. Most salt sprays I test result in sticky hair and crunchy texture, so I keep coming back to this cult-favorite Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray. The trick is to not over do it with the spray. Just spritz and scrunch.
After the winter we’ve had in DC, I am going to make sure I am going to smell like the beach all summer long … even when I’m not there. With notes of coconut milk, mandarin, and orange blossom, this mark. Saint Barts Soleil Eau de Toilette Spray will send your nose on a trip to paradise.
My go-to nail polish color for summer isn’t really a color at all. Neon nail polish is making a comeback this summer but Essie Nail Polish in Marshmallow — a staple neutral — will go with so many outfits in my wardrobe that my summer nail polish routine will be easy peasy.
ERIN GERLACH // The Sparkle
Yes, as we all know, sunscreen is essential, that’s nothing new, but this Consonant All Natural Sunscreen is all natural and healthy for your skin!
MEGAN SCHWARZ // Seed to Serum
As the temperatures rise, I almost immediately see a corresponding rise in skin congestion. To combat this, I up the exfoliation ante by mixing May Lindstrom The Clean Dirt and The Honey Mud every morning. This combination is an effective and absolutely luscious treat for the skin!
This soft, cushy Laurel Facial Balm provides the perfect base under makeup. More than that, it also naturally protects from the summer sun’s harsh, damaging rays with red raspberry seed, cranberry seed, carrot seed, and jojoba oils!
This Luzern La Defense (with SPF 30) is a stellar, toxin-free sunscreen option. It combines healing zinc oxide with a host of antioxidants, skin brighteners, and anti-agers. And unlike most natural sunscreens, it’s lightweight and non-whitening!
De Mamiel Summer Oil – My favorite part of transitioning to a new season is immediately obtaining Annee de Mamiel’s newest Seasonal Oil creation. Each blend contains a unique combination of carrier oils, essential oils, extracts, and flower essences based on that season’s specific rhythms. While I can’t speak to what will be in the upcoming Summer blend, I do know one thing – I need it!
This Kjaer Weis Desired Glow Cream Blush is my go-to summer blush! The color it imparts is delicate, subtle, and ultra-flattering. And the creamy formula is easy to apply and virtually mistake-proof (important for a bronzer novice like myself!).
LARA RAMOS // The Glossarie
This Nomaterra Malibu Roll On Perfume Oil perfectly summer-sweet scent is inspired by California. I’ve been rolling it liberally onto my forearms and catching delicious whiffs throughout each day. So yummy!
LAURIE LEOPOLD // 312 Beauty
I love everything in NARS Summer collection — especially the Lost Coast Eyeshadow Duo. It’s a different take on glowy neutrals that looks so fresh for summer weather.
I want to wear Essie Sittin’ Pretty on my fingers and toes all season long. It is the most fabulous bright lavender polish!
I’m so excited about the new BECCA Shimmer Souffle – the love child of the brand’s Beach Tints and Shimmering Skin Perfector. I want to wear every single color!
I just discovered Haut Cosmetics, a vegan cosmetics line made in Canada. They make a BB Cream that’s unlike any other I’ve found – it has vanilla bean bioferment that acts as an optical brightener and actually absorbs UV light. Instant flawless skin!
SPF on the lips is a must during patio season (a.k.a. summer in Chicago!). The Bite Beauty BB for lips is topping my list right now. I like the tinted Flush but the clear version is also great for layering under your non-SPF lipsticks.
ELIZABETH DEHN // Beauty Bets
When two California herbalists got together to make skincare, magical things happened — like this Earth Tu Face Salt + Rosemary Body Lotion — a moisturizer that smells like you’ve spent the day by the sea.
Good mineral sunblocks like Coola’s Mineral Sport Citrus Mimosa are hard to find, particularly ones that go on this beautifully, smell this delicious, and don’t leave a weird film behind. Coola’s face blocks are also the bomb dot com.
Once I break out the self-tanner, nude lippies are never far behind. This Beauty Counter Lips Sheer in Twig is my daytime go-to, a wildly flattering neutral that would brighten up any skin tone and looks fab with my predominantly striped wardrobe. Plus, the gold packaging is TO DIE.
Super hydrating, naturally exfoliating, and perfectly dewifying, my latest labor of love, the Elizabeth Dehn for One Love Organics Vitamin C Body Oil, is summer in a bottle that you’ll want to use it year round.
Natural deoorants have come a long way. This from a girl who hates to sweat unless it’s in a hot yoga class. I’ve been waiting not-so-patiently for R.L. Linden to release theirs because it’s got it all: performance, no-mess spray application, and an uplifting, very un-hippy scent. The R.L. Linden & Co. Close to Me Uplifting Deodorant Spray is coming in early June!
CLAIRE ASHLEY // Claire Ashley Beauty
I give my hair the biggest break during the summer by replacing all my hot tools with this texturizing spray. A couple spritz’s of Not Your Mother’s Sea Salt Spray throughout my damp hair creates an effortless beachy look – it looks like I tried hard without actually trying!
