I recently had a little discussion with those of you who follow my Instagram Stories about Botox and what age is appropriate to start getting it. There seemed to be a general consensus about our culture, about how starting to get serious beauty procedures at a young age and how much pressure it puts on all of us to always look young. I think that’s another post in itself, and while I’m all about trying new things, I do think that getting Botox before you even have legit wrinkles (unless it’s for something medical) is a little crazy. However, I’m all about trying out beauty products to see what works for you. I’m not against Botox — I’m sure I’ll get it at some point — I just feel like the pressure to ALWAYS look young is a lot. I frequently don’t wear makeup, but at the same time, I love to try it and learn new things about it, so I’m back with another Beauty Dossier where I give you my very honest opinion about beauty products I’m testing out.
I have thin enamel on my teeth, which means my teeth stain easily. And considering I drink mostly tea, coffee, and wine — that doesn’t help. My dentist told me to get these GUM Soft Picks to use — in addition to brushing and flossing of course — and I love them. They are just so easy and effective. And if you don’t have time to floss twice a day — these are a quick easy way to not totally fall off the dental hygiene wagon.
I am all about liquid blush. I was dying to try this blush and I LOVE it. Less is more with this blush. It is very pigmented, a little goes a long way, which means that this blush will last a long time. I also love love love the highlighter. Both of these products look so natural, they just sink into the skin.
If you are the type of girl who likes a natural look quick and easy, these are the perfect products for you!
I am really picky about my moisturizer, and this one fits the bill. I love how you just push down on the top and the product comes out. It’s fun and different and Drunk Elephant is a clean beauty company so you know you can trust that all of their products are healthy!
While I love this actual product, and I think the packaging is really cute, I prefer a lip balm that I don’t have to touch with my fingers to put on. I just prefer something that goes directly on the lip and doesn’t involve my finger. However, the product is really really good, and lasts forever! So I still use it, I’m just a bit of a germaphobe so I always feel like I need to wash my hands before I touch my mouth.
I want to like this product so much. It does work in the deodorizing category so if you really want a natural deodorant, it absolutely works and the scents are amazing. You do have to warm it up on your skin for a little while to get it to be soft enough to apply, and even then I find it a bit gritty. I also sweat a lot when I workout, and it leaves a white film all over everything — my clothes, my yoga mat, workout machines. But I think you have to take the good and the bad when you use natural deodorants.
If you enjoyed this Beauty Dossier post, please tell me in the comments about a recent beauty product you tried and either liked or didn’t like!
All products were given to me for review unless stated otherwise. All opinions are honest and are my own. I was not paid to talk about any of these products nor did I guarantee any coverage.
