You know how when you look at art you oftentimes have an instant reaction to it. For me I instantly love a piece or don’t. But even if I don’t love it or wouldn’t want to buy it for my home, it doesn’t mean that I don’t respect the work or think it’s good.
When I first saw the work of the Danish artist Christiane Spangsberg (I think it was on Instagram) I instantly fell in love. With an attraction to Picasso’s one line technique and Fauvism artists like Henri Matisse and André Derain, Christiane does a lot of line drawings that she says are inspired by imperfection and influenced by humans.
I’ll get into more about Christiane in another post, but wanted to share a recent collaboration she did with J.V. Reid. Her drawing Unconditional Love is printed on a 100% organic cotton T-shirt, which you can purchase here.
Christiane says, “This particular piece of art has been inspired by unconditional love — the kind of love you don’t give up on — whether it’s family or friends or loved ones. We are together — even though we are apart and love doesn’t mean staying forever, it’s the smile on your face when you are thinking about the other person. This T-shirt will be a reminder of that.”
You all know I love a good T-shirt and leather jacket look. I’m wearing the tee in a size small (UK 8) which fit me fine. If you want a looser fit, I recommend going up one size. I personally like my tees a little on the loose side so a medium would have also worked for me. I paired the shirt with my leather jacket, gray jeans, black slides, statement ring, and a bucket bag.
