I love fresh starts — like moving into a new home or a fresh notebook. But even if it’s the fresh start of a new year (just a date), it always seems like a good time for reflection, goal-setting, and thinking about your life after all of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Like I said last year, some people don’t like the word resolution, so they call their New Year’s Resolutions goals, mantras, intentions or whatever. Currently, none of those words bother me. The outcome to me is the same regardless of what word I use to describe the things I’m working on in my life. I am using January as a planning month for my year. The last quarter of 2013 was so crazy for me, my brain stopped working in late December and all I wanted to do was read.
WhenI look back at my goals/resolutions for last year I did follow through fully on several of them. As I take the month to plan out my specific goals for this year, I do know that there are a few key words that will be overall themes.
PLANNING & ORGANIZATION
HEALTH & FITNESS
CREATIVE & IDEA TIME
TRAVEL & FUN
I think setting goals with very specific to-dos is important. This is a long process for me as I get really specific about each theme, goal, intention.
2013 was an amazing year for me, but I know I’m capable of so much more. I know that 2014 will really knock my socks off and surprise me in ways I can’t predict.
Do you have goals and resolutions this year? What are they? Please share in the comments!
