You might have read about my hair incident. If not, you might want to read it before continuing down this post. Since the incident I’ve been trying to be really good to my hair. I haven’t touched a curling iron or a flat iron. I’ve barely used a blow dryer. I started using specific products that are good for my damaged hair, and I started taking some vitamins to help with hair growth.
The day after my incident I was headed up to NYC to meet some of my college friends for a girls weekend, so I had zero time to do damage control on my hair. On my train ride to NYC I researched all about color-damaged hair like a madwoman. I read that the Living Proof Restore Mask Treatment was amazing for damaged hair like mine, so as soon as I dropped my bags off at my hotel, I marched on over to the closest Sephora where they stocked Living Proof (which happened to be in Times Square and I really don’t recommend anyone ever go there…madness!) and bought the hair mask.
I used it that night and couldn’t believe how amazing the product was. I was worried about it being too oily but right on the container it says that it’s weightless, and I can attest to the truth of that. It left my hair silky soft without weighing it down at all! Honestly, I was shocked by how amazing my hair felt when I washed out the mask after five minutes in the shower.
It’s been about two months since the incident — basically since the top layer of my hair broke off to just a few inches. I know it’s hard to tell from the photos, but the layer of hair on the top and crown of my head is only a few inches long.
I knew I needed to talk to an expert about my damaged hair and get an opinion about what I should do next, and see if all of the things I read online were actually good for my hair. I figured trimming off my ragged ends couldn’t hurt either.
So when Living Proof approached me about teaming up, I couldn’t have been more excited considering I already loved their Restore Mask Treatment. I met up with Charles Lindsay, a Living Proof stylist, at Spa Logic in Dupont Circle. All day I was thinking, poor Charles, he has no idea what he’s gotten himself into with my hair! To my surprise, he had already researched me, found my hair post, and already had a game plan. I was impressed.
After we chatted about my hair, he put the Restore Mask Treatment on my hair and gave it a little heat under the dryer. Then I got a trim, and I peppered him with questions about my hair and hair products. He dried my hair very gently and for the first time since before the incident I had a silky blowout.
I went home with a load of Living Proof products from the Restore line to help my damaged hair recover. Most of the information I read online he confirmed for me with a few slight variations. I’ll be reporting back in a few weeks with how my hair is doing and what I think of all the products. Stay tuned!
