July Mood

July Mood Board

Red and blue were of course on my mind for July’s moodboard, but I wanted to make it a little different than your average 4th of July color palette with some green and pink. I think it makes a lovely palette to kick off the beginning of the hottest months of summer.

2017 has definitely been the fastest year of my life so far. It has absolutely FLOWN by. After traveling a lot in May & June, I’m ready to stay put for a few weeks and get some stuff done around my house and catch up on work and do a lot of reading and paintings. So many books to read and paintings to create!

+ Was in Phoenix for a week on a press trip. Lots of content coming up from that! I absolutely loved it even though the weather was unseasonably hot reaching 118 while I was there! I was really impressed with the delicious food there. Definitely don’t count Phoenix out — it’s a great spot for a trip!

+ Went to the opening of Steadfast Supply in DC, where I may or may not have a few of my key tags, notepads, and books. 😉

+ Attended a delicious brunch at the Ritz-Carlton Georgetown’s new outdoor spot The Yard. I did a ton of Instagram Stories from it because it was gorgeous and delicious. Especially this S’more’s French Toast, but if you want more info the Hungry Lobbyist did a post about it.

+ Painted four coats of white in my living room, also painted both bedrooms upstairs black. Lots of painting!

+ Styled both of my bookshelves and got my living room almost fully in order except a new light fixture, art, hooks for coats and hats, and blinds. And a want a new rug but that can wait…

+ Celebrated my friend Bonnie’s birthday & business anniversary at Momofuku. I had never been before so was excited to experience it!

+ Lots of great content from June I don’t want you to miss: I launched a new column called Beauty Dossier; found my new favorite iPhone accessory; talked about the natural deodorant I’m obsessed with; shared how I FINALLY like my hair again; put together the ultimate summer dress guide; did my latest book club post; and shared a story that will get you right in the throat — the latest in the Heirloom series, what Claire found in her mother’s bag.

+ My mom and her husband are in town visiting for the 4th of July so we are hitting up a bunch of new restaurants, a Nationals baseball game, and maybe even some touristy sight-seeing.

+ Book Club this month is reading The Nix. I’m probably only 1/8 of the way in, but am intrigued to see where this book goes.

+ Hoping to get a few hikes in with the Mr. and Hemingway. Virginia is full of great hiking!

+ I have a lot of paintings to make! I need to spend some time in my studio painting!

+ May and June I fell off the 5x a week CrossFit wagon since I was out of town for 3 weeks and we were moving and painting the inside of the house. I have some catching up to do after all the food I ate (and drank) in Phoenix, Palm Springs, and LA!
