I’d been thinking I needed to upgrade my camera situation for a while now. I bought the Canon T3i over four years ago, and while it’s still a great camera body (it does HD video as well), I’ve learned a lot about cameras since 2011 and knew I needed higher quality photos.
I had one of my photographers help me pick out the perfect lens for what I was looking for. I learned that my zoom lens (and all zoom lenses) won’t take as high quality photos as a fixed lens. But what type of fixed lens did I need? Heck if I knew. Laura recommended I get a 28mm f/1.8 lens and honestly I couldn’t be happier with it.
I got it one day before I left for Zurich and was able to practice with it (and literally took notes). I’ve seen such a HUGE difference in my photos using the 28mm versus the zoom lens that came with the camera. See some of my photos from Zurich here, and I have more photos coming up tomorrow that I took with the 28mm lens.
