The Quirk Hotel in Richmond

I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels in my 34 years, and some of them get it really right. The Quirk Hotel in Richmond, Virginia, is one of those hotels.

I recently went to Richmond to see the YSL show and decided I had to spend some time at the Quirk Hotel! I’d seen so many gorgeous photos of it, I needed to see it for myself. These pics were also taken there in the courtyard.

Located in the arts and design district of Richmond, the Quirk Hotel is immediately impressive. Originally built in 1916 for the J.B. Mosby and Co. dry goods store, the building is of Italian Renaissance design. And it’s beautiful. From the branding to the furniture, it’s really just that good.

It’s the perfect place to stay if you are going to Richmond, or if you are needing to get away for a few days. It’s a 2-hour drive south of DC (3-4 depending on traffic).

In the lobby there is a coffee shop, the Quirk Gallery, and Maple & Pine Restaurant. We had lunch, and while my photographer was healthy and got a lovely salad, I saw the Virginia Ham and Gruyere Sandwich and there was no turning back. Let me just say, that it was the best ham and cheese sandwich I’ve had in my recent memory. It was so good.

We didn’t make it to the rooftop, so I have a very good reason to go back! Something about that hotel just makes me want to be there.
